Supporting iPod cottage industries, one toy at a time

I got an iDog for Christmas. It’s pretty cute, although a tad demanding. Hooked up to the iPod it periodically barks and flaps its ears in a plaintive attempt to get my attention as it listens to whatever is on the iPod. If it isn’t hooked up to the iPod then it just yips, rocks its head, flaps its ears and flashes the odd light from time to time. It reminds me in a less annoying way of the Furby I once owned. After a while, it was just depressing to listen to it whine and plead and moan for attention, so I had to eventually kill it by removing the batteries. I’m a bit more mature now, too, so will try not to resort to the de-battery-ization of the iDog. Also, it comes with an off switch.

It’s pouring rain down here in So Cal (nothing like last year’s deluge as of yet), so watching the iDog spin his lights is about as exciting as we’re going to get this New Year’s Eve. I think I’ll go plant him by the fireplace, and let the glow reflect off his little white face.
