Yesterday was the 4th of July and as we have been doing for the past few years, we went over to our friend Barbara’s house to BBQ and watch the Rose Bowl fireworks. It was the usual fun affair, with good food and drink and excellent fireworks. this year there were more kabooming fireworks than last year, and some new ones that sounded like missiles whistling and exploding. There was a pall of smoke over the Rose Bowl that made us all glad to be standing on the overlook above it.

Here are pics taken with the big Canon 30D and the smaller Canon SD500. I’m betting you can tell the difference. Luckily we had both cameras, as Chuck had not removed images from the big Canon in, well, ever, so the card filled up about halfway through the show. My little SD500 came to the rescue, capturing the rest of the show. I made a little movie, too. Here it is in Flash, and here it is in Quicktime.
