We were at the MacWorld 2007 keynote address this morning to witness the dawn of a new age in communication: the introduction of the iPhone. It may not take over the world tomorrow or even next year, but just wait – it is going to change the face of cell phones forever. And I want one. Now. Here is MY video of the big announcement, shot from the very back of the main room of the Moscone Center’s West Hall where we ended up standing after spending 2 1/2 HOURS in line…argh!!! Still, it was worth it. We got to hear John Mayer perform two songs live and also got to hear all about the iPod’s awesome market share.
We then spent several hours walking around the two exhibit halls, and bought two sandwiches and two drinks for $27.75. Whoa! Tonight we are staying in Sausalito, having spent last night at a hotel in the area known as “South of Market.” Way south, I guess. All I can say is that the pictures of the place looked better on the Internet. Or our standards have gotten higher. The room we had was so small that the bed took up 8/10ths of the space. The (free) wireless Internet was variable, leaning toward non-existent. Happily they didn’t care that we changed reservations on them at the last minute. First we tried (don’t laugh) the St. Regis Hotel. They had rooms available – for $600 a night! That seemed a wee bit high, so we decided to get out of Dodge and return to one of our favorite places. We are now happily ensconced in the Inn Above Tide, and have decided that from here on out, this is our place of choice for stays in the San Francisco area.
Pics of the action here.
