Dr. Nade, Chuck’s cancer doctor, God bless her, called us at about 7:30 tonight to let us know the results of the needle biopsy. It was FAT!!! Specifically fat necrosis – as in dead fat – as in something, she assured us, that we don’t need to worry about. So one chemotherapy treatment and Chuck is DONE.
Thanks to everyone for all the good thoughts, prayers, knocking on wood, ritualistic sacrifices, etc. I think it all helped. And there will be a party in May to celebrate the return of Chuck’s tastebuds. I am typing this through tears of joy. Life is wonderful. And we have been blessed with good friends who have supported us through a truly hellish time in our lives. Finally, we see light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
Of course, there will be plenty more tests in Chuck’s future, so in the words of Winston Churchill, it’s more the beginning of the end. But that’s cool; we’ll take it!
Right here, right now, it doesn’t get better than how we feel at this moment in time.
