I am spending a week in Pennsylvania visiting my sister. It’s been great to see her, and we’ve been having fun: we spent a day and a night at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort (a very nice place!), and yesterday hit the Strip District where you can buy meats, fish, cheese, and a whole lot of Pittsburgh Steelers memorabilia (I finally had to ask what all the “Got Six?” t-shirts meant. Not much of a football fan, I fear). It’s summer here in the ‘Burgh, and that means one word: humidity. Being a So Cal girl, I am NOT used to that energy sapping lethargy that humidity produces. My brother (who lives in Virginia and thus is pretty acclimated to the aforementioned humidity) came out for the weekend, and he’s a fellow runner (and faster than me), so we did some longish (5 mile plus) runs yesterday and today. Phew!! I think we get extra credit for all the perspiring we did. After today’s run we both looked like we had just been swimming.
Tonight we spent a pleasant couple of hours watching Julie & Julia. Meryl Streep, always great, surpasses herself and completely captures the essence of Julia Child. Two huge thumbs up to both the movie and the excellent air conditioning in the theater.
But hey, did I mention the humidity?

I don’t eat beef, but even I kind of wanted to go home and make boeuf bourguignon!
Julie and Julia rocked, Scott and I went and got her cookbook and I made her Salmon Soufflé, it was great but a lot of dirty pans. Say hi to Louise, have fun!
