Tri Season Once Again

We got up at 4 AM – yes 4 AM! – to head out to Hansen Dam for Eileen’s first triathlon this year. I was a bit concerned about her bike training but I guess all those weeks in spin class paid off even if she has not gotten much time on the road. This was a sprint tri, meaning that it was  a fairly short course. 500 yard swim, 11 mile bike, followed by a 5K (3.1 miles) run. Her time was 1:25 and she was second in her age group. I’m very proud of her accomplishment. Now on to the Kokopelli triathlon next month.

Update from Eileen: Here’s my day after addendum to Chuck’s post. After doing the sprint triathlon yesterday, I can tell that I bit off more than I could chew, signing up for the Olympic distance (1/2 mile swim, 20.5 mile bike ride and 6.2 mile run) at Kokopelli next month. I’ve been busy working and haven’t had as much time to train as I needed (excuses, excuses) so am officially wimping out and switching to the sprint distance. otherwise, I could still be finishing the course come Christmas. :-/
