A really big adventure

We are at the start of one the most exciting trips I’ve taken. I think I have to go back to my trip to Nepal to trek in the Himalayas to find any sort of comparison.

We’re off to the Galapagos Islands, and it’s all my sister’s fault. You see, today is her birthday, and it’s a bit of a milestone, which was really not making her feel great. So I in my wisdom I said that nothing cheers me up like a good trip so she should try it – find a place in the world and Chuck and I would go with her and her husband.

We figured she’d go for, I don’t know – Tuscany, Spain the Greek islands. Well, surprise, surprise, she chose the Galapagos! So here we are winging our way to the Galapagos via Atlanta, GA, Quito and then Gayaquil, Ecuador before a final flight out to the Galapagos where we will finally board he cruise ship that we’ll be spending the week on.

After a week in the Galapagos we head back to mainland Ecuador then catch a flight to Coca, Ecuador where we start the journey to the rainforest.

I somehow doubt, unless they’re mounting satellite dishes on the backs of turtles, that there will be Internet access in the Galapagos, but hey, who knows – so stay tuned!
