Not National Lampoon’s Vacation

We spent last week in Colorado visiting family. We got back Monday, but as I was distracted with my impending sinus surgery (see previous blog entry) I just got around to putting up the pictures. We had a birthday party for Chuck’s sister Angie and helped Katie buy an iBook, then headed off to Glenwood Springs for a couple of days. It’s a fabulous natural hot springs nestled in the mountains. We stayed at a wonderful old hotel, the Hotel Colorado, where people like Teddy Roosevelt and Buffalo Bill Cody hung out once upon a time. We got massages and spent a lot of time in the HUGE pools where the water temps range from the mid 80s to 104 and the faint smell of sulfur permeates the air. On the way home, we stopped in Vail and spent an afternoon and evening wandering around there. It’s like a little piece of Switzerland in the middle of Colorado! I’d love to go back in the winter – it would be even more magical then, I bet. What’s amazing is that I’ve driven by there several times over the years and from the highway you see nothing, except the backs of some so-so condos. You’d never know this lovely little village is just on the other side of the road!

Here are images of our trip.
